On the 700 Club televangelist Pat Robertson Implies that the reason for the disastrous Earthquake in Haiti wasn’t tectonic plate shifts; it was the pact with the devil Haitians made to be freed from their French colonizers in the 18th Century. Keep in mind that 96% of the population of Haiti are Christian. (80% Catholic, 16% Protestant). Also keep in mind that Pat Robertson and the 700 Club are responsible for numerous failed end time prophecies.
Here’s the truth behind the Haitian Revolution and Dutty Boukman (Pronounced Doodie Bookman) If you look into Haitian history, there’s a story about a Voodoo priest whose death led to the final slave revolt that resulted in Haitian independence.
Wikipedia Entry On Dutty Boukman and and Haitian Revolution:
Dutty Boukman was a houngan, or vodoun priest whose death was considered a catalyst to the slave uprising that marked the beginning of the Haïtian Revolution.
Boukman was born in Jamaica, and later sold by his British master to a French plantation owner, who put him to work as a commandeur (slave driver) and, later, a coach driver. His French name came from his English nickname, “Book Man,” which he earned due to his ability to read.
On 22 August 1791, Boukman presided in the role of houngan (priest) together with an African-born priestess and conducted a ceremony at the Bois Caïman and prophesied that the slaves Jean François, Biassou, and Jeannot would be leaders of a slave revolt that would free the slaves of Saint-Domingue. A pig, which symbolized the wild, free, and untamable spiritual power of the forest and the ancestors, was sacrificed, an oath was taken, and Boukman and the priestess exhorted the listeners to fight bravely against their oppressors. Days later the Haitian Revolution began. Boukman was not the first to attempt a slave uprising in Saint-Domingue, as he was preceded by others, such as Padrejean in 1676, and François Mackandal in 1757. However, his large size, warrior-like appearance, and fearsome temper made him an effective leader and helped spark the Haitian Revolution.

The White House response on video.
“It never ceases to amaze that in times of amazing human suffering, somebody says something that could be so utterly stupid, but it like clockwork happens with some regularity, what is, well I could have expanded on that.”

Haha
Pat Robertson need to get his facts right. Nopoleon The thrid had nothing to do with haiti. When Nopoleon the thrid became empire haiti was already recognized as it country.
Nopoleon the thrid became empire in 1852 and haiti was recognized as a country in 1815. Not to mention that he making a myth seem really. i think that blessed man need to shut up and think and resaarch the facts from the myth before opening his blasted mouth. i am from the caribbean and it is all a lie what he is saying about haiti.
Also…..the whole concept that if a guy made a sacrifice to the devil(which he didn’t) that the country would get hit by an earthquake 200-300 years later is ridiculous.
I wonder how many people in the United State have made pacts with the devil in the last 300 years?……The US has been livin’ fat with no problems
Not to mention, the stats on religion would put Haiti as having a higher percentage of Christians than the US. Haiti 96% Christian and the US has over 12.5 percent “unaffiliated” with any religion.
Why isn’t the US cursed?
